Services will be held Saturday October 8th 2022 at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Chimes ~ Laurel Land Funeral Home and Memorial Park - 7100 Crowley Rd. Fort Worth, Texas 76134. Visitation and Celebration of Catherine’s life will also be on Saturday October 8th 2022 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Chimes.
Catherine was a very loving, devoted daughter, sister, cat mom and friend to many over a six-decade span. Her life’s story began in Wichita Falls, Texas, November 19th, 1961, the first child of Robert & Margaret Lee. Catherine’s brother was born in 1963. The family of four progressed to Tuba City, Arizona, where they lived on the Navajo Reservation for four years.. they took in many incredible sites in N Arizona. From 1971 - 1978, the family spent the remainder of Catherine’s growing years in El Paso, Texas, where she proudly graduated from Eastwood High School in 1979 .. she played Baritone Horn in several band ensembles. The family spent many summer vacations traveling the scenic highways and byways of New Mexico and Colorado.
The last progression, as a family unit, was to Amarillo, Texas, where Catherine attended West Texas A&M University, then transferred to Wayland Baptist University (Plainview, TX) and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music in 1983. She performed a magnificent voice recital her senior year. During these transformative years, Catherine came to know Jesus Christ as her Savior. Catherine was an active member of Paramount Baptist Church. Also during this time, she met and married Hermes Guzman. The couple had a wonderful group of friends and, shared many happy times together.
Catherine & Hermes moved to Fort Worth where Catherine worked in church administration. By 1990 the couple had moved to Dallas where she worked at the Art Institute of Dallas, where Hermes attend school.
In 1999 Catherine spring boarded into the North Carolina years where she was an Assistant Director for a nonprofit in the Asheville area. Her love for animals blossomed, having several dog and cat companions along the way. She met best friend Doug at this juncture. Catherine enjoyed being near the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains and, also took in the North Carolina coast a few times.
By year 2010, Catherine moved back to Amarillo, Texas to be close to her dad and start anew. She became an administrative assistant at West Texas A&M, where she made wonderful friends. Catherine and her father spent many special moments together during this time.
Catherine then moved to Fort Worth in 2016, after the passing of her father in 2015. Catherine and her brother Robbie had forged a great bond; and, she settled in Dallas where she eventually purchased her own home, all abuzz with cats of course! She worked for Dallas College, primarily in the office of STEM, on the Eastfield campus. Catherine diligently earned her Masters of Science in Management from Texas A&M Commerce University in 2018. Catherine’s last job progression landed her at Methodist Health System as an Executive Assistant in the Executive Offices.
Over the last 8 years, Catherine & Robb enjoyed lots of fun outings together - taking in nature, the arts, movies and more. She also thoroughly enjoyed her visits with best friends Shawna and Doug. She was deeply loved by so many. Catherine was a gamer, definitely enjoyed a good read; and, music from many genres. The sweet soul whose nickname was Cat, was unashamedly a cat mom. ~ She was such a joy to be around. Catherine had a very kind heart and soul and so, was a dear friend to many. We thank you for blessing us all.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Reeves Lee and Robert Edgewood Lee; and many cherished pets.
Catherine is survived by her brother, Robb Lee; her aunt, Kitty Jenkins; amazing first cousins, Glenn Reeves, Debbie Reeves, Douglas Jenkins, Rob Jenkins, Stephen Jenkins and, Franklin Lee; ~ 3 family & 5 foster cats.
We know you’d be with us today, if Heaven wasn’t far away .. there are no goodbyes for us, you will always be in my heart .. until we meet again.
Memorial donations may be sent to one of Catherine’s favorite places to visit .. home to large and exotic animals and birds.
