He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 18, 1936. Most often referred to as Bob, he graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth in 1955. He immediately joined the Navy and served for four years based in San Diego, CA when not touring the Pacific on a destroyer, the MSS McDermott.
After completing his four years in the Navy, he returned to Texas and eventually settled in 1967 on about nine acres in Johnson County just south of Burleson. There he enjoyed caring for his livestock, maintaining his land and fences, working in the barn……always spending as much time outdoors as possible. It followed that his favorite hobbies were fishing and deer hunting. Further, he enjoyed shooting pool with his friends.
He worked from the age of 8 until 80 with a work ethic beyond measure. A significant amount of his adult successful sales career was as owner of a franchise for Pepperidge Farm, Little Debbie, Archway, Lance and the like.
He is preceded in death by his mother Gussie Louise Curry and father Woodrow Wilson Curry.
Bobby is survived by his sister, Christine Gilbertson; three half-brothers; his sons, Bobby Ray and Jerry Lee Curry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Additionally, he is survived by his Life Partner and Constant Companion for 14 years, Zelda Tatum; her son John Congleton; her daughter Melissa Mendiola & son-in-law Vince Mendiola; and grandchildren Hunter, Ashley, and Chloe.
