Joe Garza was born on October 3, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas. Raised by his brother and sister in law, he grew up in north Fort Worth and lived there his entire life. He married Janice Garza on June 1, 1965 in Weatherford, Texas. In his early years, Joe worked at Swift & Co as a butcher. He later retired from Petrochemicals (Ferro Inc) where he was responsible for chemical mixtures and finished goods.
After retirement, Joe loved playing bingo! He especially loved spending time with his grandson, Tyler, and granddaughter, Katy, who called him Papaw. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. You could frequently hear him yelling from his room during a football game. He was also a member of Springdale Baptist Church for around 30 years where he found the most joy in attending Sunday school class. Springdale is also where he received Christ and was baptized.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his sister in law.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Garza, sons Joey and Jason Garza (Rebecca), and grandchildren, Tyler and Katy. He is also survived by his nephew, James Garza, niece Candy, who was raised as a sister to him and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family of Joe Garza wishes to extend their gratitude to Springdale Baptist Church. He will be remembered and greatly missed by all of us.
