Anne Marlon Chambers Fricke, 90, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was born April 10, 1931 in Haleyville, Alabama to Pastor and Church Planter, Rev. James Albert Chambers and Pearl McNutt Chambers. She professed faith in Christ at a young age and faithfully served Him throughout her life. Anne received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Baylor University and did her Master’s work in Religious Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She met the love of her life, Robert Carl Fricke, while working in Ridgecrest, North Carolina. Anne and Robert (Bob) married August 14, 1953 at North Fort Worth Baptist Church. The Frickes served as life-long missionaries in Cuba and Miami with the North American Mission Board, and in Mexico and Costa Rica with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Anne loved teaching children and women in her church and serving as a seminary librarian, but the greatest joy of her life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Anne was a member of Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth where she enjoyed teaching preschoolers in Sunday School during her retirement.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, her husband of 64 years, Robert Carl Fricke of Fort Worth and her first-born son, David Michael Fricke of San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by three sisters, Carol Oaks of Gadsden, Alabama; Sarah Babbitt and Sue King, both of Kodiak, Alaska; one daughter, Lynda Crawford (Bruce) of Myrtle Beach South Carolina; two sons, Karl Fricke (Dana) of Hurst, Texas and Rev. Mark Fricke (Debby) of Ozona, Texas; daughter-in-law, Valarie Fricke (David) of San Antonio, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Gambrell Street Baptist Church, 1616 W. Gambrell St., Ft. Worth, TX. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall following the service.
