After graduating high school Alan joined the United States Army and proudly served in the Vietnam War from 1969-1975. When he left the army he became a police officer and detective. He served the Euless and Benbrook police departments. He was awarded detective of the year from the Benbrook police department. After his retirement from the police department he spent his time doing extensive research into a topic/hobby and then would execute it with excellence. Some of his favorite hobbies included restoring old cars, mainly his beloved GTO, he also loved fixing motorcycles, power parachuting, wood working, guns and enjoyed watching the ocean.
Alan was a man who fiercely loved his wife Meriane. He did all things with her in mind. He was structured and detail oriented which allowed him to excel in any task. He shared his drive and determination with Meriane. Together they were a power couple that could accomplish anything. Alan and Meriane were married for 27 years.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, William and Katherine Mayhew; brother, Craig Mayhew.
He is survived by his wife Meriane Mayhew; son, Alan Mayhew Jr and daughter in law, Ann Marie; grandsons, Morgan and Kyle Mayhew; and sister, Judie Potts. Alan will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
