Walter W. Bonham, Jr., passed away surrounded by family on April 15, 2016. He was a resident on Coldwater Lake, Coldwater, MI. He was retired with over 40 years of service from Lincoln National Corporation as Assistant Treasurer and Director of Corporate Cash Management. He was also a board member of the American Red Cross and Mental Health America in Allen County. He was active in the Mizpah Shrine, serving as Treasurer and member of the Class Director. He was also a member of the Waynedale Masonic Lodge and the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, serving in various capacities and most recently attended Angola United Methodist Church.
He was an avid Yankee and IU basketball fan. He loved fishing and golf, especially with his grandsons where he had “Grandpa Rules.” He loved his family time and is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betsy; children, Stephen (Debra) Bonham, Barbara (Chris) Nix, Susan (Paul) Furman, and Christopher (Colleen) Bonham; grandchildren, Justin (Haylie) Bonham, Kacy (Drew) Miler, Krista (Lance) Gordon, Tyler and Conner Nix, and Luke and Jake Furman; great grandchildren, Jonah Miller and Gwendolyn Bonham; siblings, Mark, Louis and Terry Bonham, and Kathy Calvin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Gertrude Bonham, and sister, Judy Bodeker.
Memorials to be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital, and Mental Health America in Allen County.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11 AM at Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 W. Berry St. Ft. Wayne, IN 46802, with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home 420 W. Wayne St. Ft. Wayne, IN 46802 from 1-3 & 5-7.
Burial will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery.
