Obituary of Susan Carol Curry
Susan Carol Curry (nee Martin), age 63, returned to the waiting arms of the Lord and her mother on October 12, 2024, at AdventHealth Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida, passing peacefully and quietly (as would be expected of Sue) and surrounded by family. She was a native of Ruislip, Middlesex, England, and spent most of her life in Fort Wayne, Indiana. "Sweet Sue" was a gentle soul with a heart of gold and incredible inner strength. Over a seven-year period, she beat three types of cancer and survived numerous surgeries, infusions and procedures, always with optimism and grace, but finally met an obstacle she could not overcome. She was a lover of children, animals, birds, the beach, and music events. Sue was a homemaker and mother and active in her children’s many activities as a soccer mom, swim club volunteer, and PTA treasurer. She was the matriarch of her family, which includes her husband Kent Curry of Port Orange, FL, daughter Elizabeth (Jacob) Hollingsworth of Acworth, GA, son Brian Curry (Heather Bohrer) of Fort Wayne, father Jerry Martin of Port Orange, brother Jerry Martin Jr. of Port Orange, sister Hollie (Matt) Sterrett of Savannah, GA, nephew Chris Martin of Sicklerville, NJ, nieces Morgan and Reagan Sterrett of Savannah, Uncle Richard (Anne) Stallion of London, England, her Martin and Stallion cousins, her Curry brothers- and sisters-in-law, her Curry nieces, and a first grandchild expected in early December. Sue was preceded in death by her mother Joan E. Martin (nee Stallion). A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday November 2, 2024, at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 W. Main Street, Fort Wayne, IN with Pastor Nikki Rice of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, and Pastor Mick Sobieck of Faith Baptist Church, Defiance, OH, presiding and a gathering of family and friends following at the McComb Tribute Center, 2307 W. Main Street, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd UMC in Fort Wayne or Faith Baptist Church in Defiance. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Fabian of North Florida Surgeons and Dr. Eric Harris of Florida Cancer Specialists, to whom Sue was admiringly known as "Our Miracle Patient" and "The Queen of Immunotherapy".
