Shirley J. Powell, 89, of Indianapolis, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away, Monday, January 07, 2013. She was born on November 16, 1923 in Hurley, Wisconsin to the late R. Thomas and Marie (Consie) Eddy. After moving to Fort Wayne, she worked as a chemist at International Harvester. She loved being a wife and mother, homemaker, and volunteer at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church where she was a faithful member. She enjoyed needlepoint in her spare time. Surviving family include her children, Cheryl J. (Dr. Frederick) Guengerich of Nashville, TN, Jeffrey B. (Lisa) Powell, Gregory A. (Sharon) Powell both of Indianapolis; 9 grandchildren and one great granddaughter and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband of 63 years, Charles N. Powell in 2012, and siblings, Martha Zwintscher and Harold R. Eddy. A funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, January 11, 2013 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church or Worship for Shut-ins.
