Obituary of Shirley Holley-Pitzer
Shirley Ann Holley-Pitzer, 87, of Fort Wayne joined her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 15, 2024. Born in Wells County, Indiana as a New Year baby; January 1, 1937 a daughter of Rollie and Mabel Imel. She married David Louis Holley on July 8, 1955. David and Shirley had seven children, William R. Holley, Bruce A. Holley, Cheryl S. Lee, Linda L. Rohr, Beth A. Hitzfield, Beverly L. Flamion, Bradley D. Holley; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and expectant great grandchildren. Shirley had an entrepreneurial spirit, starting and successfully managing three businesses. She was an active member of Waynedale Community Church and taught Sunday school, played the organ, and active in various Bible studies. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, knitting and caring for her grandchildren. In January 1980 she lost a son, Bruce Holley, from an accident and forever mourned his passing. In March 1999 her husband and father to their seven children passed away. Shirley remarried in 2005 to Joseph H. Pitzer until his passing in January 2021. While she faced many challenges and difficulties in life, her strength came from her dependence on God, and love for her children. She prayed for each one individually daily. Her heart’s desire was to be with Jesus, to be reunited with her son, husband, parents, siblings and loved ones who predeceased her in life. She spoke often of the importance of forgiveness and asking Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. She wants everyone to end their journey through life in heaven. “ For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16.
