Ruth Marie (Mannweiler) Hackett, 93, passed away on December 10, 2024, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. Known to many as Mom Mom, Ruth was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and beloved friend.
Ruth was born July 2, 1931, to Frank and Colleen (Barnett) Mannweiler of Fort Wayne, who inspired her generosity and gift of hospitality. Throughout her life, Ruth knew no strangers. She graduated from Arcola High School in 1948, and over the years, loved hosting large gatherings, like her famous Fourth of July and Halloween parties. The more people, the better.
Though she experienced many tragedies in life—the loss of her parents, her husband, her brother, her sisters and her two sons—she always remained faithful and never let hardships hinder her ability to love, laugh and bring joy to others.
She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Mike) Brammer of Bloomington, IN, Janet Bir and Sue Hackett (Steve Bredemeyer); and daughters-in-law Roberta (Walter) Hackett III, and Kelly (Frank Hackett) Borne (Dale).
Ruth was also a loving Mom Mom to Michael (Kristina) Brammer, Todd Brammer, Colin Bir, Kara (Michael) Metzler, Adam (Emily) Hackett, Amanda (Matt) Juram, Melissa (Scott) Buckle; and five great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Kaitlyn, Evan, Abigail and Charlie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Hackett Jr., MD; sons, Frank Hackett and Walter Hackett III; and her siblings Donice (Mannweiler) Brown and John and Grace Mannweiler.
