ROBERT J. WOENKER, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016. Born March 4, 1925, he was a son of Frank H. and Rose A. (Fuchs) Woenker. Bob graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1943. In 1944, Bob was awarded his Varsity Letter in wrestling from Middlebury College. Prior to retiring from Zollner Corporation after 25 years of service, Bob was a firefighter and home builder. Bob was a life-time member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus Council 451, American Legion Post 82, the Army Navy Garrison, and President of the German Shorthaired Pointer Association in 1969. A World War II Navy veteran, Bob enjoyed gardening, golfing, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. Bob was a loving grandfather who was devoted to sharing his life stories and making memories with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He is survived by his sons, Daniel (Anne) Woenker, Stephen Woenker and James Woenker; daughters, Lisa (Tom) Wood and Linda (James) Anderson; 15 grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara (Scheffer); and brother, Frank C. Woenker. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd., with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St. Memorials to Masses and Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
