Robert Urquhart Petts

Robert Urquhart Petts, 94, passed away July 25, 2024, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born January 6, 1930, in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of George and Agnes Petts. Robert was a Korean War Veteran with the U.S. Army. He was a Printing Pressman and worked at Our Sunday Visitor in Huntington, IN for thirty years, retiring in 1992. Robert was a charter member of the Aboite Township Fire Department and worked as an EMT.
Robert was a skilled artist enjoying painting and leather work. He was also an accomplished pianist and could play by ear, without ever having had a lesson. In his younger days he enjoyed playing golf and square dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Connie” Petts of Roanoke, IN; children, Sharon (John) Riddle of Albion, IN, Linda James of Auburn, IN, Helen (Joe) Eichman of Albion, IN, Robert John (Patsy) Petts of Columbia SC and Mark (Christina) Petts of Pittsburgh, PA; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Agnes Petts; and a brother, George "Stanley" Petts Jr.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes – Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation two hours prior. A private burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Roanoke, IN.
