Robert A. "Bob" Meyer, 70, of Fort Wayne passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022. Bob was born on September 11, 1952 in Fort Wayne, to the late Eugene A. and Meriam (Nash) Meyer. He is survived by his sons, Ben (Crystal) Gabet and Sam (Erin) Meyer; grandchildren, Noah and Norah, Austin; and siblings, steven Eugene Meyer, Barbara Heuer, and Janet (Pete) Gabet, among many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his late wife Julia K. (Julie) Meyer; brother, James F. (Shirley) Meyer. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. Bob was a professional semi-truck driver for almost 50 years. In his free time, Bob had many hobbies that he loved to share with his family and friends. He and his sons would take road trips in his rig and he frequently enjoyed watching Sam play ice hockey. Aside from playing hockey in his younger years, he was also a lifetime Komets fan. Bob was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and shared this love with his late wife. They also spent many hours sharing a love of boating and fishing. Among his friends, Bob's home was a favorite place to spend time together. Bob also took pride in training his dogs and developing close relationships with them over the years. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, December 2 at 5:30 P.M. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne with visitation to precede at 4:30 P.M. Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, Fort Wayne is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.hockemeyermillerfh.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name can be made in support of the education of his grandchildren, care of Erin or Sam Meyer.
