Obituary of Nancy Jo Walters
Nancy Jo Walters, 76, of Grabill, and former resident of Huntington, Ind., died on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at her home. Born March 11, 1944 in Huntington, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Gene and Ila (Gradeless) Miller. A graduate of South Whitley High School, she attended six elementary schools in Huntington County. She graduated from Indiana Business College, Ivy Tech, and attended St. Francis University. An avid homemaker, she worked as office manager, mental health rehabilitationist and social worker. A co-founder of Huntington County Right to Life, she also served as fourth Congressional district chairman, state and federal lobbyist, and Legislative Vice-President for Indiana Right to Life. She was a long-time volunteer with Christmas Behind Bars Prison Ministry serving Indiana prisons throughout the state and in area county jails until 2018 when she retired. Surviving are her husband, Larry Walters; sons, Tim (Tracy) and Todd (Missy); three grandsons, Troy, Cory, and Chase; sisters, Nora (Stensel) Engleberth and Margaret Miller; seven nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister; and brother, Dean E. Miller. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. A servant of God and devoted Adventist, preferred memorials are to charities serving children in Ghana and India.
