Obituary of Mary Jane Steinacker
MARY JANE STEINACKER, 94, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed peacefully Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at home with family at her side and joined her Lord for eternal life in Heaven. She was born in Hicksville, Ohio on July 20, 1928 to the late Milton and Luci (Maugher) Hilpert. Mary, who was known to many as "Jane", graduated from North Side High School. She married the late Edward J. Steinacker in 1947 and to this union four children were born. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and later became a member of The Chapel. Mary Jane was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge 432. She began her career working for GTE in 1968 and retired in 1990 after 22 years of service. Jane was an avid reader, she loved swimming in her pool, vacationing on the ocean and Power's Hamburgers. She was a gorgeous person with a great sense of humor. She had a joke and a smile for everyone. Her family and friends were a treasure to her and she was a delight to all who knew her. Jane was a great mother, and grandmother who will truly be missed. Surviving are her son, Kent (Cynthia) Steinacker; daughters, Amy Ann (Gary) King and Becky (Robert) Walmer; daughter-in-law, Deb Steinacker; grandchildren, Emiley Roman, Betsy Steinacker, Chad (April) Steinacker, Paula Ziegler, Doug (Leah) Steinacker, Wesley King, Anna King, Rob (Kristen) Walmer, Nicholas Walmer, and Grant (Cynthia Harter) Walmer; nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Steinacker III; granddaughter, Amanda King; sisters, Florence Meirding, Betty Lou Winners; and brother, Marshall Hilpert. There will be a private service and burial in Covington Memorial Gardens at a later date.
