Mona “Sue” Grooms, 89, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away Monday, March 1st, 2021 at her home. Born on December 6th, 1931 in Wister, Oklahoma to John Dennis and Norah Bell Morgan. Sue was a member of Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church. She attended Poteau Junior College, Indiana State University, and Purdue University. Sue also sold Avon for 25 years and won numerous awards. She loved to read and travel the world with her husband, friends, and family. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Rev. Marvin E. Grooms; sons, Mark E. Grooms, and Kyle R. Grooms; daughter, D. Renee Hicks; Grandchildren, Anthony M. Hicks, Conner M. Hicks, Allison S. Hicks, Gabriella N. Grooms, Erin A. Grooms, Madeline R. Hicks, Matthew M. Hicks, Christopher H. Hicks; great-granddaughter, Olivia R. Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John Dennis and Norah Bell Morgan; her sisters; Doris “Lucille” Branscum, Pearl Beatrice “Bea” Loughridge, Joyce Ann Morgan. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, 880 E. 1100N., Roanoke, Indiana, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12th, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Coving Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Social distancing guidelines will be in place.
