Linda "Lindy/GeeGee" McCormick, 72, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Born on July 20, 1948 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Doris (Ray) Smith. She was a graduate of South Side High School, and attended IPFW. Linda spent many of her younger years in Los Angeles learning comedy improve, studying theater and acting before ultimately returning to Fort Wayne to be with her family. Upon her return, she married Brian McCormick in 1986, and worked for many years at WKJG Channel 33 where she performed many different tasks. Linda was very involved in the local theater community, performing in various plays/musicals, and also participated/started a couple of different comedy improv troops. She was also actively involved in various local community groups and was constantly reading. She had a zest for learning new things she found interesting and was an avid library enthusiast, checking out many books at a time. Linda was a very talented writer and a creative artist of all mediums. She entered, and won a couple of short story writing competitions, and her art work was featured in an exhibition at Artlink and the Botanical Gardens here in Fort Wayne. Being with her family and her many pets throughout the years is what brought her the most happiness. She was always trying or learning something new and she lived for each and every moment. Linda is survived by a sister, Betsy (David) Loubier of Fort Wayne; and brother, James “Jim” (Donna) Smith of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she thought of as her own children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian “BriBri” McCormick, in 2015; and sister, Mary “Arlene” (Bob) Brown in 2020. Memorial contributions can be made to SPCA. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
