Lawrence E. “Larry” Kruse, 63, of Fort Wayne passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was born on July 29, 1949 in Fort Wayne to Charles and Noella (Didiot) Kruse. He was well-known in the Waynedale Community and was a longtime volunteer with the Allen County Democratic Party. A few years ago, he won Democrat Volunteer of the Year for the 3rd Congressional District. He was a Precinct Committeeman, served as a delegate many times to the Democratic State Convention and was selected several years ago as a Delegate from Allen County to the national Democratic Convention. He also had served as an officer of the Elmhurst Neighborhood Association. He will be remembered as an expert gardener and lover of animals and was often seen walking his dog in his neighborhood. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and was in one of the last classes at Central Catholic before it closed. Surviving family include his mother, Noella Kruse; siblings, Jack (Edie) Janssens, Sr., Lily Mertes, Jerry (Sandy) Kruse; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful four legged friend, Bud. He was preceded in passing by his father. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 am on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 2120 S. Harrison St., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Ft. Wayne with a rosary service at 7:30 pm. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
