Obituary of Dr. Laurence "Larry" A. Gray
Dr. Laurence A. Gray, of Fort Wayne, died peacefully on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Park Place Assisted Living Facility in Fort Wayne. He was born in 1930 in Wabash, IN where he grew up and graduated high school. He was an only child and his parents Laurence J. Gray and Burnace (DeArmond) Gray preceded him in death. Laurence graduated from Wabash High School and first attended Wabash College (Crawfordsville) and then earned 2 degrees from Indiana University to include his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree with honors. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and served for several years as chapter President at Wabash College. In 1953 he married Alice “Sally” (Van Osdol) from Peru, IN and they were married for 68 years till his death. He practiced dentistry for 40 years, first in the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga, then in Marion, IN and finally in Fort Wayne, IN for over 30 years. He had 2 children – Kathleen (Philip) Rhinehart of Fort Wayne and James (Joanne) Gray of Hessel, MI and was blessed with 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, January 16, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Falls Cemetery in Wabash, IN later in the spring.
