Judith K. (Keairnes) Miller, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving husband and sons, from compilcations of Leukemia. Diagnosed four years ago, Judy went to extraordinary lengths to maintain a full and rich life participating in family events while traveling to Houston for treatment at M.D. Anderson. Born August 3, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late C. Vincent and Irene R. (Simmons) Keairnes, moving to Fort Wayne on July 24, 1941. Judy was in the North Side High School Class of 1957 and always a true Redskin. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, Judy enjoyed her times with family and friends; taking pictures and making photo albums; holidays, particularly Christmas where she had many traditions; IU basketball; Indianapolis Colts Football; Disney World; traveling, especially the trip to England to walk in her mother’s footsteps; and winters with her son. She enjoyed each of the 28,897 sunsets in her lifetime and has the pictures to prove it. She believed in the Lord and is grateful for all of the prayers she has received. Judy was employed by Canfield Lumber and then retired from Fort Wayne National Bank (PNC) in 1999. Surviving are her devoted husband and care-giver of 61 years, Roger Miller; sons, Scott (Jan) Miller of Goshen, IN and Steve Miller of Houston, TX; grandson, Joe Miller of Charleston, SC; granddaughter, Meghan (Michael) Jaskela; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Hayden of Indianapolis; brother-in-law, Riley (Elena) Miller of Woodburn; sister-in-law, Sharon (Bob) Martin of Fort Wayne; many nieces and nephews who called her Aunt Judy; and her best girlfriends of 75 years. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Tribolet; brother, Ronald C. Keairnes; and stepmother, Eula Keairnes. Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 4-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Peace United Church of Christ on Aboite Center Road, where she was a member for over thirty years and Visiting Nurse & Hospice, Fort Wayne.
