Greenlawn Funeral Home
Jonah Thomas Wojtanik, age 45, of Fort Wayne, Indiana went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Jonah was born in Olean, New York, on February 11th, 1979.
Jonah grew up with a passion for sports. He loved playing baseball and football and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He graduated from Olean High School in 1997. He went on to study at the University of Buffalo, where he met his beloved wife Stacey, his freshmen year. Jonah graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and later earned his master’s degree in business administration from Purdue University in May of 2016. After undergrad, Jonah went on to work for BAE Systems, in Endicott, NY where he started out on the engineer leadership team. Jonah continued with BAE Systems over 20 years, and was a Systems Software Engineering Manager, up until this past year when he could no longer physically work due to his cancer.
Jonah was a member of The Chapel church in Fort Wayne, IN. He was part of the woodworking ministry, youth ministries and went to Honduras on a mission’s trip in March of 2022. Jonah’s faith meant everything to him. He poured his faith into everyone he met, because of his love for Jesus. Jonah used his story of cancer through both rounds he endured, to inspire others to never give up and to always have your eyes fixed on Christ. Jonah has made a lasting impact on middle schoolers through adults with his All In attitude and mindset for Christ. All who knew him were truly inspired by his faith and love for everyone, especially his family. Jonah spent many days coaching his two daughters in softball. It was important to him to share his love of sports and love for his family in this special way.
Jonah met and fell in love with his wife Stacey, at the University of Buffalo. They were married out of college and shared a beautiful life together for over 20 years.
Jonah is survived by his wife, Stacey, and two daughters, Julie and Melanie, along with his mother, Mary (Hirsch) Wojtanik, father, Thomas J. Wojtanik and 2 sisters, Kari Wojtanik (Dimitri Seretakis) and Lori Tupper (Thomas), nephews Jack and Oliver. He is also survived by his Mother-in-law Claire Vitucci and niece Madison Katz and nephew Kyle Katz.
