JOHN MANAHAN SIEMER, 89, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at his residence. Born Sept. 17, 1922, in Mt. Healthy, Ohio, he was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. A pioneer of local television broadcasting in Fort Wayne, he was beloved by a generation of baby boomers as "Engineer John" for his morning cartoon show. He was a staff announcer at WKJG Channel 33 and retired from WFFT Channel 55 in 1989. He was a member of Maumee Masonic Lodge 725, Scottish Rite and American Legion Post 296. Surviving are his wife, Anne; daughter, Christi (John) Burns of Fort Wayne; son, Mark (Sheila) Siemer of Aurora, Colo.; stepdaughters, Annette (Garry) Moorman of Fenton, Mich. and Jeanette (Lee) Keefer of Fort Wayne; stepson, Alan (Linda) Roman of Queen Creek, Ariz.; several grandchildren; and brothers, Roland (Ruth) of Westchester, Ohio and Eugene (Betty) of Salida, Colo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Perillo; son, Randy; and first wife, Muriel. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church.
