John G. Roth, 88, of Fort Wayne, died on Friday September 20, 2013, at Coventry Meadows Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. Born on October 14, 1924, he was a son of the late Arthur and Lucile Roth. A member of Peace United Church of Christ, Fort Wayne, as well as the International Order of Odd Fellows, he proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII, and worked as a carpenter, and was a school bus driver for S.W.A.C.S.
He is survived by his children, Lisa (David) Horan, of Fishers and John A. Roth, of Fort Wayne; grandchildren Jennifer Long and Heather Rose, both of Fort Wayne, Ashlie O’Dell, of Bloomington, and Rachel, Joshua and Aaron Horan, all of Fishers; and great-grandchildren, Brady and Zachary Long. He was also preceded in death by his wife Norene F. Roth; and daughter, Cheryle L. Rose.
Funeral service is 11 AM Wednesday, September 25, at Peace United Church of Christ, 9123 Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Christen Pettit-Miller officiating. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday September 24, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel, 420 W. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be given to The Salvation Army, the American Heart Association or the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in memory of Cheryle L. Rose.
