Joan W. Hartwig, 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Chateau Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Fort Wayne. A daughter to the late Lloyd R. and Mary Ruth (Biddle) Shuler, Joan was a 1948 graduate of Central High School. Joan retired from Navistar after working for 22 years in the payroll department in 1992. She was a devoted member of the Plymouth Congregational Church and a member of the Navistar Alumni. Joan enjoyed bowling and collected owls. She is survived by her daughter, Pam (Steve) Hartwig-Slentz; grandchildren, Courtney (Brad Gallagher) Klopfenstein, Alex Klopfenstein, Cody (Rachael) King, Lincoln (Kristine) Slentz; and one great-granddaughter, Macie Joan Hall. In addition to both of her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert F. Hartwig; daughter, Cindy King; and two brothers, Lloyd (Junior) Shuler, and Jack Shuler. A celebration of life service for Joan will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Klaehn, Fahl, Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, with visitation held two hours prior. Contributions in Joan's memory may be made to the Harvester Homecoming Museum Fund or to the Fort Wayne Flying Circuits.
