Jerry “Jesse” James, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. He was born to the late Richard and Hyral (Holt) James on April 18, 1939 in Saybrook, Illinois. On January 25, 1959 in Gibson City, Illinois, Jerry married Shirley Oneal. Together, Jerry and Shirley raised two children, Lori and Matt. Mr. James was the Vice-president of Grain for Central Soya, and later went on to run his own financial advisory firm. Jesse Loved to collect antique Cap Guns, restoring Steam Trunks, and collecting coins. Jerry was also an avid reader. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Shirley James; children, Lori (Tim) Minnich and Matt James; grandchildren, Andy, Megan, Nick, Jack, Charlie, and Sam; seven great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jack, Mary, and Connie. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 1 PM at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 Saint Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Funeral Home. Calling will also be one hour before the service on Friday. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery.
