Jean Voirol

Jean Voirol, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 10, 1930, a daughter of the late W.J. and Lydia (Westerman) Vogelgesang. Jean loved being a mom and terrific grandma. She loved watching kid's and grandkid's baseball games, never missing a game. Jean liked to fish and feed people. When she finally got a joke (a half hour later!) her infectious laugh filled the room. Her caring heart made her home open to many. She is survived by her children, Deb (Jeff) Layson, Mary (Dan) Monce, Ann Sommers, Bob (Michele) Jr., Mike, Frank, Jim, and Steve Voirol; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Jean was also preceded in passing by her husband, Robert Voirol; granddaughter, Amanda; and three siblings. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 9, 2024, Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial to follow the service at Covington Memorial Gardens. Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana, or Parkview hospice.
