James L. Williams

James L. Williams, 71, passed away on January 31, 2018. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on March 28, 1946, the son of the late Porter and Frances Williams. James was in the US Navy from 1963 to 1969. He worked at General Electric as a Specialty Transformer Coil Winder for 32 years until his retirement in 1997. Upon his retirement he became quite the cook and enjoyed having dinner ready and on the table. James also like dancing, and fishing. One of his most notable qualities was that he had an amazing memory. He enjoyed talking about his childhood and could name dates, times and address of places he use to delivery papers to on his paper route. Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Sandy Williams; children, Tamera Preston, Lori (Brian) Williams, Angela (Todd) Abke, and Jimmy (Tracy) Williams II; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jeff (Rene) Williams, John (Becky) Williams, Cheryl (Paul) Parker, and Pam Nuttles. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Williams, Jack Williams; sisters, June Vibbert and Jean Havener; brother-in-law, Jerry Nuttles; and his beloved dog, Pepper. Funeral service will take place at 10AM on Tuesday, February 5, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN 46805, with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation will take place from 2-7pm on Monday, February 4, 2018 also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, or American Cancer Society.
