James “Jim” Kevin Franke, 63, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Parkview Memorial Hospital. Born August 23, 1955, in Anderson, Ind., he was a son of the late Robert and Ruthann (Jacobs) Franke. A graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School, class of 1973, Jim furthered his education at Indiana University earning an Associate Degree in Business and Marketing. Jim was a control engineer with Controlworks, Chino, Calif., for over 40 years and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Jim was a devoted family man and treasured the precious time he spent with his family. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and traveling to the Teton Mountains in Wyoming and Canada on a yearly basis. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sandra “Sandy” (Kocks) Franke of Fort Wayne; children, Kevin (Amanda) Franke of Fort Wayne, Angela “Angie” (Nick) Bauer of Fort Wayne, and Keith (Katie) Franke of Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren; siblings, Mike (Jane) Franke of Fort Wayne, Karen (Mike) Grashoff of Fort Wayne, Kathy (Walt) Polston of Fort Wayne, Fred (Frannie) Franke of Manassas, Va., and Joe (Lori) Franke of Fort Wayne; and brother-in-law, Roger VanDerSnick of Indianapolis, Ind. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Karel VanDerSnick. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Father Tom Shoemaker officiating. Calling will also be from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with a Rosary Service beginning at 3:30pm.
