Helen A Ervin, 99, of Fort Wayne, died on December 24, 2021, with her sons by her side. She was the daughter of the late Leonard H and Annetta E (nee Creigh) Ellenwood, she was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. After her graduation from South Side High School, she married Melvin "Mel" Ervin. They enjoyed life devoted to each other for 61 years, prior to his death in 2003. Upon meeting Helen people were immediately drawn to her. Her mission in life was to bring joy, not only to her family, her friends, but also to all whom she met and, through contributions to countless charities, to many she never knew. A mission accomplished.
She is survived by her sons, Richard M. (Jane) Ervin of Churubusco, Mark A. (Linda) Ervin of Fort Wayne, Steven E. (Marianne) Ervin of Leo, Gary E. (Linda) Ervin of Sarasota, Fla., and Thomas D. (Rene) Ervin of Palm City, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James A Ellenwood, Richard M Ellenwood, and Jerry C Ellenwood.
Funeral service will be 11 am, Monday, January 3, 2022, at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 6pm, Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
