Hazel R. Sanders

HAZEL R. SANDERS, of Fort Wayne, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Coventry Meadows, in Fort Wayne. Born Jan. 4, 1922, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Wise. She was a homemaker and also worked as a drapery seamstress at Sears. She enjoyed cooking and baking and the family favorite was her red cake. She also enjoyed family, friends, church activities, sewing and flower gardening. She was a charter member of Aldersgate Methodist Church, Fort Wayne. She also was a member of the Shriner's Widows Club and American Legion Auxiliary Post 296. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Marcia) Sanders of Angola, Ind.; granddaughter, Kristen (Brandon) Bogue of Winchester, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Austin and Brianna Bogue, both of Winchester, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Sanders Jr.; brothers, Sherman, Melvin, Harold Pearl; and sisters, Edna Conn, Iva Neumann, Jessie Pinkerton and Flora (Letha) Snyder. A Celebration of Life service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, Fort Wayne, with visitation two hours prior. Dr. Derek Weber officiating. The family wants to give special thanks to the caring and loving staff at Coventry Meadows and Visiting Nurse Hospice. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
