Harold Herbert Hayes

Harold Herbert Hayes, fondly known as “Hal”, passed away at his home in Las Vegas on July 13, 2022, at age 93. Hal was born on December 24, 1928, to Merle Elisa (Smith) and Donald Orville Hayes of Sacramento, CA.
Hal was employed by Navistar International Trucks for 51 years as an engineer. He was a very active member of the Mizpah Shrine Temple (Directors' Staff and Clown Units). He was active in his congregation both here and in Las Vegas. During his life, his pastimes ranged from being a pilot to woodcarving. Upon retirement, he relocated to North Las Vegas to be closer to his nieces, nephews, and their children. He was living independently and active until his passing. His sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Kohr) Hayes; sister Marion Hayes also of Sacramento; sisters-in-law Delores (David) Daniel of Fort Wayne, IN, and Kathleen (Chester) Cook of Las Vegas, NV.
Hal is survived by his son Bruce Hayes (Gerald Ediger) of Fort Wayne; brother Olin Hayes (Maxine Stewart) of Paris, TX; sister-in-law Doris (Walter) Gerke of Charleston, WV; nieces and nephews, Cathy Baker (Phill Konopka) of Indio, CA, Sally (Geoff) Breach of North Las Vegas, NV, David (Deb) Daniel of Troy, MI, Jack (Lorrie) Daniel of Fort Wayne, IN, Stephen (Lisa) Gerke of Great Falls, VA, Michael (Twila Adams) and Erin Hendriks of North Las Vegas, NV, Mary Jerkins of Chatham, IL, Joe (Katie) Lynn of North Las Vegas, NV, and Carolyn (Hal) Wilmot of Fort Myers, FL. Also surviving are grand nieces and nephews, Adair Gerke, Brandt, Drew, Ian, John and Adam Daniel, Lauren Wilmot, Erin Pipas, Trevor Baker, Ronald and Chase Simpson, Garrett and Rylie Breach, Savannah Hilterbran, and Austin, Kolton and Ryder Lynn.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Burial to follow in Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Contributions to honor Hal’s life may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
