Obituary of Eugene L. Dellinger
Eugene L. Dellinger, 83, passed away on December 7, 2020. He was born in Decatur, IN on March 28, 1937, the son of the late Melvin and Mary Louise Dellinger. Eugene worked as an orthodontist for over 40 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Anthony Wayne Rotary Club, Mizpah Shrine, Masons, Scottish Rite, American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, American Board of Orthodontics, College of Diplomats of the American Board of Orthodontics, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and the Sons of the American Revolution. Gene was a past president of the Indiana Association of Orthodontists, past president of the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, a past member of the House of Delegates for the American Association of Orthodontists, and served as a Professor at the Indiana University School of Dentistry Orthodontic Department. He won national awards for research in orthodontics, holds several patents for various orthodontic devices, and was widely know through the world as an orthodontic innovator. Aside from his professional credentials Gene was a gourmet chef. His passion for food and wine was his trademark. Gene was generous with hosting meals and entertaining his friends and colleagues. He loved to travel, and had a soft spot in his heart for New Orleans. Absolutely nothing compared to his love for his late wife, Rosalie, who was truly his sun and moon. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Eric (Katie) and Dr. Aron (Robin) Dellinger; 8 grandchildren - Ethan (Mary), Austin, Dominik, Miranda, Marissa and Bella Dellinger and Jalen and Kameron Vanderbosch; 2 great-grandchildren - Penelope and Alexander Dellinger and sister Diana (late Jack) Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rosalie Hasewinkle Dellinger. A private family service will be held, with a public celebration of life to follow at a later date, in the spring.
