Obituary of Eric Scott Tucker
Eric Scott Tucker was born September 28, 1969, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Janice Gail (Carroll) and James Everett Tucker. His family lived in the booming metropolis of Arcola for the first few years of his life and then moved to Ossian, Indiana, where he spent almost the rest of his life. As a child, Eric spent countless hours playing neighborhood baseball and exploring new construction sites with his brothers Rod and Jeremy. He eventually discovered wrestling and spent hours on this new passion which took him to the state wrestling tournament and to Russia to wrestle with the Indiana AAU wrestling team. Eric coached wrestling until his work schedule would not allow it and traveled many years with his “wrestling crew” to watch the NCAA wrestling championships. When Eric could no longer wrestle himself, he enjoyed participating in judo, triathlons, and tough mudders. Eric went to college right after high school and earned an associate degree in Supervision. After working at several jobs including, the Fort Wayne Foundry and Ellison Bakery, Eric dared to drop everything and go back to school to become an RN. Here, Eric found another passion in nursing. Eric worked in many units including the ICU, the coronary ICU, the ER, the Cath. Lab., and finally in dialysis. Nurses and patients alike loved Eric and appreciated his compassion. While in high school, Eric saw a life-long schoolmate at the Markle Pool and asked her on a date. The two were married two years later on September 23, 1989, in the LDS Temple in Washington, D.C. and made many wonderful memories together. The two were blessed with two beautiful daughters Erica Jade and Kennady Rae and raised them in Ossian. Eric loved his girls even more than he loved wrestling. He taught them how to wrestle, how to stand up for themselves, and how to laugh. In July of this year his grandson Tucker Alexander Warth was born, and Eric found his newest and greatest love. Eric is survived by his wife, Kelly J. (Steele) Tucker; his daughters, Erica J. Vakalahi and Kennady R. (Joshua) Warth; his grandson, Tucker Warth; his father, Jim Tucker and stepmother, Sharolyn Tucker, his stepfather, Bob Bell, his brothers, Rodney (Cassie) Tucker, Jeremy Tucker, and David (Aimee) Bell; and his sister, Trisha Tucker. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy Bell; his son-in-law, Timothy Vakalahi; and his mother, Janice Bell.
