Dorothy J. Lothamer, 97, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on August 28, 2023. Dorothy was born August 8, 1926, in Paulding County, Ohio to the late Frank and Gail (Stouffer) Carnahan. She married Louis L. Lothamer on September 14, 1946. Dorothy was very active at home taking care of her seven children but always seem to find time to read the new best seller or work on a piece of stained glass that would be promised to a lucky friend or family person. Louis and Dorothy established a tradition of spending a long weekend at one of the Indiana state parks each year with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone loved the family Thanksgivings’ and Christmas gatherings at Louis and Dorothy’s home each year. Dorothy always had a smile on her face and never raised her voice. Dorothy is survived by the following children: Terry (Liz) Lothamer of Muncie, Cherie Belschner, Laura (Jim) Lothamer, John (Barb) Lothamer all of Fort Wayne and Paul (Melissa) Lothamer of Mooresville; ten grandchildren Jeff Lothamer, Chad Lothamer, Heather Cheesebrew, Holly Belschner, Brian Miller, Kyle Miller, Megan, Moore, Aaron Lothamer, Aiyla Lothamer, and Serena Daczuk and her daughter-in-law Kim Lothamer; and eleven great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Louis, sons Jerry and Patrick, son-in-law Daniel R Belschner, eight sisters: Alvilda Williams, Evelyn Andrew, Sara English, Jesse Stauffer, Elizabeth Goodenough, Laura Marvin, Anna May Freshwater, Eleanor Fellers, and a brother Pete Carnahan. Dorothy cherished her time with all of her family and friends. Dorothy was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. The family is thankful to St. Ann’s Home for the excellent care of Dorothy during her years as a resident. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 16, 2023, at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells Street Fort Wayne, IN with a visitation from 1:00-3:00 P.M.
