Danny Steve Furman

Danny S. Furman, 60, of Fort Wayne, sunset on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his home with his family by his side. Sunrise on September 18, 1955 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Stefan and Lottie (Augustyniak) Furman. Danny attended Central High School and graduated from South Side High School, Class of 1973. Danny was employed with Slater Steel/Valbruna for over 22 years. Danny was a sports fanatic; enjoying the N.Y. Yankees, the Oakland Raiders and Notre Dame. He also enjoyed fishing/ice fishing and playing cards; mostly Euchre and Poker. He is survived by his Life Partner of 36 years, Barbara Hayes and her son, Johnny, in which Danny felt “I never had my own son but Johnny was as close to a son as I could ever have.”; brothers, Mark and Henry Furman, both of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Linda Furman of Fort Wayne; nieces, Maggie Furman of Fort Wayne and Amber (Dana) Glaeser of New York, NY; cousin and Angel on Earth, Grace (John) Boice, and their daughters Alexa and Anya, all of Roanoke; and close friend, Carin Cole of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by his brother, George Furman. Funeral Service will be on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 11:00am at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen or to Patient Access Network.
