Clarence Dale Osborn, age 95, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022. He was born October 21,1926, in Danville, Illinois, and spent his formative years there before moving to Fort Wayne with family. Clarence was a Navy Veteran who served in WWII on the destroyer USS Caldwell. Before his service in war, Clarence was employed by Sears Roebuck for 35 years and retired as the Warehouse Manager. Clarence had many interests: travel, old cars & tractors, puzzles, a good piece of pie, mowing his 8 acres of grass, tinkering in his workshop, and later in life playing on his GrandPad. However, spending time with his family and his beloved wife Mary Ellen in the home they built in Columbia City was his greatest joy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Mary Ellen (Barrett), his parents, Arthur and Flora (Cozad), five bothers and six sisters. He is survived by his sister Mary Ann Rigby of Fort Wayne and his daughters, Rhonda Osborn (Michael) Loje of Lakewood, Ohio; Rhande Osborn (Ann) of Shirley, Indiana; and Mary Ellen’s daughters, Debra Barrett (David) Bengel of Fort Wayne; Sara Barrett (John) Twomey of Novi, Michigan; Elizabeth Barrett (Matthew) Doehrman of Fort Wayne. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Nicholas (Morgen) Bengel; Spencer (Brittany) Bengel, Jack, Ryan & Erin Twomey, Benjamin, Megan & Mollie Doehrman, and two great-grandchildren; Charlie Rae and Emilia Mae Bengel. Due to Covid concerns, there will only be a private family funeral. A gravesite celebration of life with recognition of his military service will be held this summer at Greenlawn Funeral Home and Memory Park. Memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Foundation.
