BYRON PAUL NICHOLSON, 78, went to his heavenly home on Monday, September 25, 2017. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Adam and Edna Nicholson. He graduated from Lafayette Central High School. He farmed with his father and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Germany. He was a member of Nine Mile United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Janis; son, Paul (Trish) Whitaker; daughter, Mary Whitaker; grandaughter, April Wilkinson; sister, Jane (David) Meats; several nieces and nephews. Also preceding in death is his brother, William Nicholson.
A special thank you to the staff at Heartland Hospice and Coventry Meadows for the wonderful care they provided.
Service is 11 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at the funeral home.
Burial in Maple Lawn (Nine Mile Church) Cemetery following the funeral.
Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice and Nine Mile United Methodist Church stained glass window restoration fund.
