Betty Louise Erskine

Betty Louise Erskine was born on January 22, 1939, in an era that was characterized by the Great Depression and World War II. Despite the challenges of those times, Betty grew up to be a strong, compassionate, and generous person, traits that would come to define her throughout her life.
Betty was a true matriarch of her large family. She spent her life dedicated to her family and loved ones, and was always there to offer support, encouragement, and love. Betty was known for always having an open home and a large heart, and she took in many foster children over the years, extending her love and generosity to those in need.
In addition to her love for her family, Betty enjoyed many hobbies and interests. She was an avid reader, loved sewing, drawing. Betty was also a devoted Christian. She found great joy and comfort in her faith and was an active member of the church of Christ. Her love for God was evident in her interactions with others, and she strived to live a life of kindness and compassion. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, and made many unforgettable memories during her travels.
Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Albert Erskine, whom she had been married to for over 42 years. She is also survived by her five children, Vicky (Stu) Black, Marcy Richardson, Mark (Michelle) Sturtevant , John (Heather) Sturtevant, Jamie (Sarah) Sturtevant; step-children, Deb (Warren) Dixon, Karen (Charles) Reynolds, and Eric (Emily) Erskine; sisters, Sandy Murrdock, and Shirley Boorsma; grandchildren: Jesse Dolson, Andy Dolson, Travis Dolson, Richie Richardson, Jennifer Jackson, Alissa Sturtevant, Christian Sturtevant, Ashley Sturtevant, Justin Erskine, Tess Erskine, Miles Dixon, Caitlyn Dixon, Sarah Brisendine, and Andrew Juhasz; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her father Robert and Helen Hollenbacher; sisters, Julia Jackson and Sharon St. George.
Memorial Service is 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 11th at the Lincolnway church of Christ, 600 West Lincolnway in Columbia City, IN 46725. Memorial Contributions to Cancer Services of NE Indiana, 6316 Mutual Dr, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and generosity will live on through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
