Bennie R. Braswell, Sr.

Bennie R. Braswell, Sr., 75, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Bennie was born on October 29, 1947 in Roberta, Georgia, the 24th of 25 children of the late Charlie and Willie Etta (Jordan) Braswell. Bennie served his country, completing two tours during the Vietnam War. He was a personnel clerk for the Brigadier General and received the Bronze Star. He worked as a quality control engineer at Chrysler/Stellantis for more than 35 years. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his vegetable and flowers gardens, yard work, golfing, walking in the neighborhood, and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes. Bennie will be remembered as a people person, always touching the lives of those he met, he truly knew no strangers. Surviving family include his wife, Susan M. Braswell; children, Sandra Braswell Walton, Bennie (Stacy) Braswell, Jr., Rashida (Thomas) Braswell Shack, Charlie Braswell, Brice (Aubrey) Raatz, and Leslie Raatz; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Williams. Besides his parents, Bennie was preceded in passing by 23 siblings. A memorial service for Bennie will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne 46804 with a gathering of family and friends following services.
