Arlene M. Rice

Arlene M. Rice, 92, of New Haven, Indiana passed away peacefully at Kingston Care on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. She was born on September 22, 1930 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Martha (Stoppenhagen) Torbeck. Arlene helped open the Wolf and Dessauer store at Southtown Mall. She worked there for several years and later retired from LS Ayres. She had several devoted customers throughout the years. Arlene greatly loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Craig (Ann) Rice, Cinda (Darry Reinhart) Beber, and Curt (Beckie) Rice; and grandchildren, Stacy (Brian) Roark, Kelly Beber, Lindsay (Brandon) Pass, Chelsea (Nate) Alexander, and Courtney (Clint Siekemeyer) Rice; and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in passing by her husband of 62 years, Joseph Rice; and brother, Filbert Torbeck. Visitation will be held from 11:30am-1:30pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home 6424 Winchester Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819. Immediately following will be a graveside service at Concordia Lutheran Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the Big brothers, Big sisters of Northeast Indiana or donor’s choice.
