Obituary of Arlene Kay Miskelly
Arlene Kay Miskelly, 73, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Born in Zion, IL on May 14, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Rossiter and Jessie Burgess. Arlene obtained a Bachelor's degree from Greenville College (now Greenville University) in Greenville, IL, where she sang in the Greenville College Choir for four years. She taught third grade for five years at Black Jack Elementary School in Hazelwood, MO, and sang in the Bach Society Choir. She worked at L.S. Ayres for almost 10 years, and 15 years as a lab technician at Lutheran Hospital. She was a member of Christ's Community Church, where she sang in the choir directed by her daughter, longtime member of Village Green Free Methodist Church (The Journey) where she directed the choir for over 7 years, and Brookside Community Church where she sang in the choir for 20 years and was a discussion leader in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. The greatest joys of her life were God and His Word, her family and friends, and music, especially choral. She had a soft spot in her heart for her dogs (currently Wrigley). She had a gift for conversation and was interested in hearing people's stories. She had a wonderful sense of humor and would often start a chain of laughter. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. William Miskelly; children, William (Reiko) Miskelly III, currently living in Mbabane, Eswatini; Lynette (Darren) Smith of Fort Wayne, IN; and Kara (Sunil) Shrestha of Roseville, MN; 11 grandchildren; and sister, Jessilyn (Wolfgang) Otto of Westfield, IN. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Leonardo "Leo" Edward Shrestha, and sister, Annette Burgess. A limited visitation will be held at Monday, April 27, 2020, from 11am to 1pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46804), followed by a private graveside service at 2pm at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
