Willie James Wilson, Sr., 62, of Lavaca, died August 9, 2012 in Fort Smith. He was born August 12, 1949 in Lyons, Mississippi to T.J. Riley and Lena Mae Wilson. He was retired as a Command Sgt. Major with the Army Air Force Reserves. He was a former driver for the TLS Company, sales person for S & K Clothes, Chief for the River City Deli, and worked for Central Mall. He was an avid sportsman with the nick name of “Stick Shift”, he loved to fish and enjoyed doing landscape. He is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; three daughters, Latazua Wilson-Herbin of Fort Worth, TX., Nanicika Wilson of Fort Worth, TX., and Ramona Patrice Sweeney of Milwaukee, WI; two sons, Willie J. Wilson, Jr of Lavaca and Rodney Birts of Milwaukee, WI; seven sisters, Ernestine Beaman of Detroit, MI., Donna Churcher-Johnson of St. Paul, MN., Laura Dix of Hartsville, TN., Lisa Churcher of Minneapolis, MN., Margarite Hopkins of Memphis, TN, Joanne Hollins of Memphis, TN and Annette Hollins of Milwaukee, WI; seven brothers, J.T. Riley of St. Paul, MN., Donald Churcher of St. Paul, MN., Brian Mason of Phoenix, AZ., Johnny Wilson of Atlanta, GA., Lawrence Wilson of Biloxi, MS., David Hopkins of Milwaukee, WI., and Leonard Hopkins of Milwaukee, WI., eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow from 3-5 PM at Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will be Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the U.S. National Cemetery with Honors. Services and Cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
