Willie Mae Capehart, 86, was called home by her lord and savior Jesus Christ on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, in a local hospital. She was born May 9, 1929, in Muldrow, Oklahoma to Harold and Anna Dyer. She was a former employee of Spalding, General Electric, Rock Mount and Rheem in Fort Smith. She was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Fort Smith where she was a member of the Pastor’s Hall of Fame. She was a kind and gentle soul to all who knew her. She was a faithful prayer warrior who had a strong believe in the power of prayer. If anyone ever had a problem and needed prayer, she was always available to pray for them. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Capehart; brother, George Dyer; and two sisters, Evelyn Hatwig and Sue Medlock.
She is survived by her two sons, Doctor Steven Capehart and wife Betty Lue Capehart of Marshal, Texas; Major (Retired) Art Capehart and wife Beth Capehart of Fayetteville, Georgia; brother, Bill Dyer and wife Betty Dyer of Roland, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Stony Capehart, Lieutenant Colonel Shay Capehart, Cheryl Capehart, Dustin Capehart, and Second Lieutenant Sean Capehart and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Moore, Ralph Lewis, David Sparkman, Tom Henry, Michael Nichols and Richard Longley.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM-6:30 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Evangel Temple Assembly of God Building Fund, PO Box 1077, Fort Smith, AR 72902.
