William Romaine Boyd, III, Will, passed peacefully from this life on April 18, 2024, after a long battle with a brainstem glioma. Born March 1, 1988 to William R. Boyd, II and Jennifer Womack Boyd in Decatur, Georgia, the family soon moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where Will spent his life. He graduated Southside High School in 2006 and attended the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. He married the love of his life, Cara Hamrick in 2017.
An eagle scout, Will exemplified the scout law. He was trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. Those who know him would also add: funny, loving, thoughtful, generous, adventurous and truthful. A man of true integrity, he loved the outdoors and was in his element when he served several summers at Camp War Eagle with under privileged children. He also worked at Medisav Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Tech and in customer service for ArcBest Corp. All along the way, he served his Lord and his church family. In 2019, he joined the staff at First Baptist Fort Smith where he was serving at the time of his death.
Will accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age and, blessed with a heart to serve others, he spent his life sharing the gospel with those around him. His desire to share the Good News took him to many locations across the United States, as well as, Mexico, Canada, and China.
He was devoted to his family and friends. He was so proud of and thankful for his wife and their children. He loved spending time with them, especially in the woods camping.
Will is survived by his wife, Cara Hamrick Boyd; three children, Isabella Grace, William Romaine Boyd, IV (Liam), and Emmaline Kate; parents William and Jennifer Boyd; sister Molly Boyd Ellis (Dolan) and nieces Olivia Wren Ellis and Evelyn Rose Ellis.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, April 27th at 10:00am, at the First Baptist Church, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Family will visit with friends at the church Friday, April 26th from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Rye, Zachary Bradley, Josh Brown, Lance Rainwater, Matt Passmore and Eli Leslie.
