Virginia Ann Gould, 74, of Fort Smith, passed away on December 28, 2017 in Fort Smith. Ann was born in Konawa, Oklahoma, to George and Samantha Shaw Ingram on June 17, 1943. She graduated high school in Chouteau, Oklahoma and joined the Marine Corps where she honorably served. While in the Marine Corps, Ann met Chester Gould. They decided not to re-enlist and started a new life in marriage on April 21, 1963.
They lived a short time in New Jersey where their first child, Brenda, was born. They then moved back to Virginia where their second child, David, was born. The family later moved to Arkansas to be centrally located near family. Ann worked for the United Mine Workers Association and then Linde Home Care / Lincare for nearly 20 years. She served the patients as a Customer Service Representative with kind and gentle words. She was also a strong advocate for patient rights.
Ann remained connected with family which was very important to her. With a fun loving spirit and a readiness to dance in a celebration of life, she exuded a positive energy of joy. Ann also remained connected with her military background and served in the Women’s Marine Association for many years. Ann served as the Arkansas Chapter President until her health required her to allow others to carry the message.
Ann is survived by her husband, Chester; and two children (and spouses): Brenda Gould Morgan (with Russell Morgan) of Siloam Springs, AR, and David Gould (with Tracy Gould) of Greenbrier, AR. Ann and Chet have six Grandchildren: Isaac Morgan (Nagahama, Japan), Eli Morgan (Springdale, AR), Jonah Morgan (Siloam Springs, AR), Moriah Gould (Conway, AR), Sarah Gould (Fayetteville, AR), and Jordan Gould (Greenbrier, AR).
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:30 PM on Monday January 1, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday January 2, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, 201 North 12th Street, Fort Smith, AR. Burial will follow the service at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith at 11:00 AM.
Pallbearers will be: Gary Tobey, Jody Morgan, Jesse Heydenreich, Gary Bates, Roger Morgan, and Randy Vines.
