Sandra Jetonne Burns passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. She was born on December 14, 1942 in Oppelo, Arkansas in the home of her beloved grandparents, Jim and Annie Moore, and she spent much of her childhood with them after her father tragically drowned when she was five months old. She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Vivian and C.B. Williams, and her loving husband of 61 years, Ronny Burns, who passed one year ago.
She is survived by her children Charity (Richard) Burr, Meridith Burns, and Justin Burns. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren who knew her as their “Gammy”: Hilary (Andrew) Grouios, Andrew (Jenna) King, Julie Harris, Brianna (Davonte) Douglas, Connor Coats, and Makenzie Burns, and the newest little loves of her life - her great-grandchildren Rowan, Easilon, Pearl, and Abby.
Sandy found true joy in being with friends and family (especially with her grandkids and her fun cousins) telling stories and laughing for hours. She will always be remembered for her love of God, family, country, and for her Southern hospitality to everyone she met.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 21, at Wolf Cemetery in Oppelo at 11:00 .a.m.
