She was born on August 30,1935 in Morrison Bluff, Arkansas, to John and Rose Wewers. She was a graduate of Saint Scholastica and became a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she met Tony. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Reith Cabinet Mill while raising her 5 children. She enjoyed reading, gardening and baking. She cared for many grandchildren in her retirement years and was affectionately known as “MawMaw”. She was a member of the IC Ladies Auxiliary and served as President. She was known for rolling “perfect circles” when preparing the featherbed rolls. She will be remembered as the most loving, gracious and beautiful mother. She also served her church as lector and choir member and was steadfast in the Catholic faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Stella Frederick (Gene), Celestine Dixon (Bill); three brothers, Herman Wewers, Norbert Wewers (Mary), and Lawrence Wewers; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Wewers.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Anton Reith; three sons, Rick Reith (Sharon) of Crane, MO, John Reith (Laura) of Fort Smith, and Shannon Reith (Jodi) of Greenwood, AR; and two daughters, Laurie Hindman (Philip) of Fort Smith and Karen Bruce (Randall) of Broken Arrow, OK; a brother, George Wewers of Boise, ID and three sisters-in-law, Stella Wewers of Paris, AR, Mary Reith of Fort Smith and Milly Wewers of Bentonville, AR; Seventeen grandchildren, Lindsay (Aaron) Killingsworth, Brooke (Don) Reilly, Sarah (David) Noland, Jana (Kai) Braaten, Kelsey (Ryan) Loftin, Emily (Alex) Clayton, Andrew (Erica) Hindman, Lauren (Wes) Laughlin, Addie Reith, Maria Hindman, Matthew (Rachel) Reith, Alec Bruce, Claire Bruce, Lydia Reith, Alexa, Jenna, and Logan Howard; thirteen great-grandchildren, Luke, Reagan, and Cecilia Reilly, Rue Braaten, Colin Loftin, Amelia and Mae Hindman, Lizzy Jo and Bella Rose Noland, Duke and Finley Jane Clayton, Juliet and Corinne Laughlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, from 5-6 pm at Edwards Funeral Home followed by the Rosary at 6pm.
The memorial Mass will be Wednesday, November 20th, 2024, at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 22 North 13th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Following the Mass, inurnment will take place at the Immaculate Conception Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions or donations may be made to IC Ladies Auxiliary, Subiaco Academy, or IC Church.
