The man adored by many passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Hospital on May 1, 2021. Jane Ann Remer and Alfred A. Monks gave birth to Ron in Panama Oklahoma at their home on February 1, 1950. Truly fitting for a man with so much grit. Starting a business at the young age of ten years old where Ron would collect glass of all kinds and turn the crushed glass into decor and usable artistry, Ron has been an entrepreneur from day one. As Ronnie grew in age so did his aspiration where he started and grew multiple businesses from the ground up to provide a comfortable life for his family and himself. Tee’d off golf was Ronnie’s final venture where he retired and stepped away from the working world to enjoy his time as he saw fit. With four siblings, Al Monks, Debbie Janway, Jeff Jacobs, and Curtis Howe, Ronnie knew and always lived up to the meaning of big brother. Later in his days, Ronnie was married to the love of his life Debbie Collins from Kansas. The two became one on June 7, 2010 in Arkansas. Ronnie was the proud father of his daughter, best friend, and fishing partner Misty Shelite, and his three sons John Monks, Jeremy Settle, and Justin Collins. With more grandkids than one could count, there was enough love from the big personality of Ronnie to go around. If you couldn’t find Ron with family it was safe to bet he was on the water chasing whatever was hungry that day to bend the rod.
The man that was truly bigger than life, Ronnie Ray Monks, will be missed dearly as his legacy of hard work, family, and living life to fullest will resonate with all that had the privilege of being a part of his life.
There will be a private memorial graveside at a later date, cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
