A graveside service will be held 10:00am Friday, May 5, 2023, at the pavilion of the Fort Smith National Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Edwards Funeral home in Fort Smith.
Phyllis was born on October 20, 1931 to the late William & Clara Jackson. She was the wife of a retired military veteran and traveled to many places such as Hawaii, Germany,
Holland & Israel. She was always there to listen, to bind our wounds and love unconditionally .Her strength was the foundation of her family.
Phyllis retired from K-mart & Fort Smith Public schools and she was very active at Arkansas Extension Homemakers. She attended Arkoma Assembly of God Church and was a lifelong servant of Christ. Her favorite hobbies were quilting, swimming, horseshoes, ping-pong & working puzzles. She also enjoyed playing cards & board games with her family.
She was a very caring & loving person and she truly was “the best” grandma.
In addition to her parents and 12 siblings, she is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, First Sergeant E.O. “Mickey” Ramsey; a son-in-law, Barry Hamlett; a daughter-in-law, Sherrie Ramsey and two grandsons Shane Hamlett and Dustin Ramsey.
She is survived by her daughter Wanna Sue Hamlett, of NC, her four sons Terry Ramsey, Denny Ramsey, both of Fort Smith, Clay & (Vicki) Ramsey, of Barling and Brian Ramsey of Fort Smith; six grandchildren: Jimmy & (Deanna) Ramsey of Fort Smith, Duchess & (Anthony) Allen of West Fork, Byron Hamlett of NC, Becky & (David) Douglas of Fort Smith, Roslyn Ramsey of Fort Smith and Mark & (Jamie) Ramsey of Tontitown, AR; and 7 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Mason, London, Connor, Brooklyn, Dillon & Bryton.
