Paula Irene Scott of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away December 9, 2022. She was born March 15, 1938 to Paul and Clemis Sturgeon in Fort Smith, AR. She was married to the late Thomas Yates Scott for 61 years. She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in 1960 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, she taught 1st Grade in Benton, AR until her and Thomas moved to Fort Smith, AR. She was a big part of Crystal Palace Skating Center where she and her husband were owners. During that time, they both inspired many young lives. She was a member of the Children’s Service League. She was of the Baptist Faith, and a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. Paula was a loving mother and grandmother. She was best known as “Meme”.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa Whittenberg (Mark) and Karen Klek (Bob). Five grandchildren: Jared Chronister (Morganne), Matt Chronister (Katelen), Scott Whittenberg (Amanda), Laura Skelton (Neal), and Will Klek. Four great grandchildren: Morgan, Nash, Liam, and Emerson. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Scott and grandson Justin Chronister.
Graveside service will be private, interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith. Public viewing will be from 12:00 PM to 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the funeral home.
